From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the events of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise started the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his own means, entering the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then settled his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could enable the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Planners tables.
Fans can expect discovering which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
