Vehicles in Germany's City Found Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Officers say they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they reported.

Officers then located numerous other marked vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.

Officials state initial examinations show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the public for information.

A high-ranking official said the attack left him stunned and required to be solved rapidly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
